Grounding the human body
Why Sunshine and Walking Barefoot Can Change Your Body Chemistry
Walking Barefoot
Grounding, also known as Earthing, is magical and one of the most grounding things you can do for your body. The Earth is like a battery that contains a natural electric charge- a special kind of energy present in the ground. Being grounded also applies to people. When you are electrically grounded, you feel- centered, strong, solid, balanced, less tense, and less stressed. Studies have shown there are decreases in illness when people walk barefoot. We are bioelectrical beings living on an electrical planet. Our bodies operate electrically and our cells transmit multiple frequencies that run, for example, our heart, muscles, and nervous system.
With some exceptions, all things living on our planet are connected to the ground's electric energy. For decades, people have increasingly been wearing rubber and plastic-soled shoes that act as a barrier to the Earth's energy, insulating them from electrical contact with the Earth. The reality is, were disconnected. So we need to reconnect by becoming closer to mother nature.
The healing benefits of grounding include decreased levels of inflammation and pain, reduced stress levels, and improved circulation. There is a lot of science to back this up! Our bodies are meant to come into contact with nature regularly.
Ideally, you want to walk barefoot every day for at least a half-hour. See the difference it makes on your pain or stress level. Sit, stand, or walk on soil, grass, sand, mud, or concrete.
Soaking in Vitamin D
Did you know just 20 minutes of sunshine a day triggers your body to release over 200 antimicrobials that fight parasites, viruses, and fungi? Atapa Snana is the yogic phrase for the healing science of sunbathing. The human body is nourished directly by the stimulation of sunlight or nourished indirectly by eating foods, drinking liquids, or breathing air that has been vitalized by the sun's light energy. This light energy not only affects our physiological activities and moods but recently it has been shown to produce an effect in the body similar to that produced by physical training. Dr. Zane Kime states that a serious of exposure to sunlight will produce decreases in resting heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar, and lactic acid in the blood flowing exercise; and increases in energy, strength, endurance, tolerance to stress, and ability of the blood to absorb and carry oxygen. Sunlight also penetrates deep into the skin to cleanse the blood and blood vessels. A moderate amount of sun exposure (15-20 mins) is incredibly healthy for your physical & mental wellbeing.
